Mr. Jesse Salazar, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for Industrial Policy participated in the quarterly National Technology and Industrial Base (NTIB) Principals' Forum Meeting on Tuesday, November 9 alongside fellow principals, Dr. Peter Sawczak, First Assistant Secretary Defence Industry Policy, Australian Department of Defence; Ms. Hélène Picard, Director General International and Industry Programs, Canadian Department of National Defence; and Mr. Huw Walters, Director Economic Security & Prosperity, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ministry of Defence.
NTIB is a congressionally-mandated policy framework intended to foster cooperation among the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom by developing coordinated technology and defense industrial base policies and programs, promoting data sharing, and providing a forum for exchanging knowledge, goods, and services.
Robust discussions were held by NTIB Principals on collaborative efforts on foreign investment review, cybersecurity, and mitigating supply chain risks and maintaining the health and resilience of our shared defense industrial base. During those discussions, DASD Salazar emphasized the importance of deepening our industrial cooperation with allies and partners towards strengthening our industrial base, leveraging innovation and commercial technologies to reinforce resilience and security in our defense supply chains, and accelerating our technological superiority over our adversaries.
DASD Salazar looks forward to the next quarterly NTIB Principals’ Meeting hosted by Australia in early 2022.
