CISO(A&S) Integration into Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Policy, DoD

FEB. 17, 2021 | Announcement

In order to improve integration and promote the security of Defense Industrial Base (DIB) activities within the purview of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer for Acquisition and Sustainment (CISO(A&S)) was integrated into the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Policy on January 19, 2021. CISO(A&S) will continue to be responsible for cyber and information security efforts within the entire OUSD(A&S) portfolio, to include the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program, Trusted Capital program, Supply Chain Risk Management program, and various cybersecurity programs and requirements set forth in the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2021.

CISO(A&S), led by Ms. Katie Arrington, will be the A&S representative for DIB cyber and information security, as well as the Department of Defense representative to the Federal Acquisition Security Council. The team will continue to oversee planning, coordination, synchronization, and integration of cybersecurity in weapon systems, defense critical infrastructure, and the DIB. This realignment will build on existing synergy, relationships, and strong organizational structures, and we believe all offices will benefit from increased coordination and sharing of analytic and administrative functions.
