Jeffrey Frankston

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Resilience


Mr. Frankston joined the Senior Executive Service in 2024 as the Director of Policy, Analysis, and Transition (PA&T) within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Industrial Base Policy). As Director, PA&T, Mr. Frankston provides analysis-informed options to prepare the industrial base for current and future fights. Mr. Frankston is currently serving as the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Resilience.

Mr. Frankston served multiple roles in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). Most recently, he was Director, Current Operations where he provided support to multiple partner combat operations. Previously, he was also Chief of Staff, and Director of Naval Readiness.

He was also the Acting Director for Air Platforms and Weapons and responsible for management, policy, and investments in all DoD aircraft, air launched weapons, and mission equipment.

Mr. Frankston was previously the lead for Navy ship and weapons sustainment and was the representative for sustainment metrics in the requirements process.

Mr. Frankston completed rotational assignments with Naval Forces Japan, and with the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. He was also a defense industry consultant.

He has a Master’s of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College, and a Bachelor in Naval History from Mary Washington College.
