The December 2017 National Security Strategy states that “support for a vibrant domestic manufacturing sector, a solid defense industrial base, and resilient supply chains is a national priority.” The Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III program released a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) on February 23, 2018, allowing potential offerors to identify future projects that create, maintain, protect, expand, or restore capabilities essential for national defense.
The BAA contains three focus areas, serving as guiding priorities for future DPA Title III projects:
(1) Sustainment of critical production
(2) Commercialization of research and development priorities
(3) Scaling emerging technologies
All interested parties are encouraged to submit unsolicited white papers according to the information disclosed in the announcement. Please see the full BAA which details the three focus areas and priorities for maintaining, protecting, expanding, or restoring domestic industrial base capabilities and outlines submission procedures and evaluation criteria.
A project call focused on high strength, inherently fire and ballistic resistant, co-polymer aramid fibers industrial capability
, was released concurrently with this BAA. All interested parties are encouraged to submit white papers based on the details in this project call. Please stay tuned for additional project announcements, seeking solicited white papers, as they are released through the BAA.
The BAA is an open announcement and is valid until February 22, 2023.
